I started playing drums just before my 15th birthday. My identical twin brother Jim started playing bass at the same time. We joined a band called Slipper shortly thereafter and played, wrote, and recorded throughout our high school years in Sauk Rapids, MN. One year after graduating from high school, I moved to the Twin Cities to attend Music Tech to further my musical aspirations. One year later, after graduating with my Most Outstanding Student Award, I filled in for numerous bands before joining Merlin in 1994. Merlin consisted of lead singer Joey Bergdahl (a.k.a. Joey Fresco) and bassist Nate Edwards (a.k.a. Eddie). After Merlin disbanded, Nate and I hooked up with Joey to form Uncle Chunk in 1996. I have had quite a few original projects on the side while in Uncle chunk. In 1997 my brother Jim and I started a band called Steak House, an alternative rock band with country twang. We recorded a demo, but it was never released. In the fall of 1997, Jim and I joined the band Symphonica, which was more on the alternative techno-pop side. Again we recorded, but never released the album. Currently, I am playing in the band The Randoms with my brother & Dave (lead vocals / rhythm guitarist). We are planning on recording and releasing a full length album within the next year. I have also played with the following local superstars from the Minneapolis area.

Dan Murphy from Soul Asylum, Golden Smog, and Wilco
Jim Boquist from Son Volt and Uncle Tupelo
Kraig Johnson from The Jayhawks, Golden Smog, Run Westy Run, and Iffy

I enjoy riding my Harley, getting inked and pierced, martial arts, and recovering my drums (check out the astro-turf ones).
